Federal disability discrimination laws like the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities and call for equal access to health care services, whether in-person or virtual. It is not only a federal mandate but a moral imperative that we ensure that everyone can access health care. As we reengineer the patient experience to meet consumer expectations for healthcare’s digital experience, taking- an enlightened approach to accessibility is essential. A lot of healthcare communications are still in printed formats. Privacy remains tantamount in healthcare, so some typical accessibility solutions don’t translate well. In the session, we’ll discuss how to automate the steps it takes to ensure your patient communications are optimized for accessibility from creation to remediation and validation.
